Ghost Loft is an artist with many faces, but they’re all poker. With that I mean that he has many pages, and none tells you anything but his music. Which is entirely free by the way. And that is of course a major plus. I would buy his stuff. It’s fantastically mastered.

Anyway there isn’t much I can tell you about this guy (or girl?) except that he’s from Los Angeles, US. And he’s bringing those vibes all the way to the rainy plains where I live. His music has a melancholic feel to it that you find mostly in future-garage and post-dubstep. It’s layered on top of a somewhat R&B beat.

The modern version of the glassy pads people used to love in the eighties flow along with the soft vocals so smoothly. Then there are the dorky synth stabs -which kinda remind me of the ‘The Falls’ album Gorillaz released a while ago- carefully layed out along the beat which gives it a bit of a rhythm and musical entity that makes it still enjoyable to listen to. It’s not just ‘wallpaper music’ in which you play it on the background and not really listen to it. As calm as it is, it keeps your attention and makes you wanna listen to more.

I can feel the emotions running through the tracks, but they make me happy as fuck. I can see this guy growing big in ‘the scene’. It’s definitely gonna take a year or two at minimum before this type of real, heartfelt and easy music is gonna get big and popular worldwide. Or maybe it’ll never. Let’s just hope it’s gonna be the last. We don’t wanna see this get raped like dubstep is getting raped right now.

This brooklyn producer makes both ‘crackelodeon’ as he likes to call it, and this relaxed mix between hiphop and (future)garage. Great use of that sample, can’t hear enough of it. Especially since it glitches in after such an organic intro and slow build.

Woah, didn’t expect this darker garage to be so nice. Well it’s not really dark after the intro. It’s just really subbed up and calm. Love this.

These guys are coming at you all the way from New Zealand with this huge sound and fantastic mastering on the tracks. They have been experimenting with genres as far apart as hiphop and hard edged drumnbass, and I think it makes an interesting mix of influences on this track.

There is no free DL at the moment but there will be real soon! They’re giving the DL out for free as soon as they hit 2000 likes on Facebook. They only need 200 more so that won’t take long anymore. So hit that fucking like button and wait patiently to add this to your collection.

Not much words needed to tell you how good this is; it just is. Clu is just killing me with his latest release ‘Evening Ever’. This wonderful future-garage track just makes me wanna sing along with the sample in weird voices, in public.

No free Download but we’ll manage for now with a soundcloud widget. Definitely buying this EP.

Not much known from this Irish producer either. But one thing is certain; his music is booming big time on soundcloud, and probably the rest of the worldwide scene, too. With only 10 months on the clock he gathered nearly 10.000 plays, 2 quite significant chances to play in front of an audience and what-not. I wish I could tell you guys more, but it seems like mystery is a trademark in nowadays music industry. At least from the type of artists we gather here.

You have slow and sad songs, you have fast paced, energetic and happy tunes, you have raging adrenaline tunes. All of which are quite popular. But why do we see a combination of these emotions and paces so rarely? I mean, I can see why not many people would listen to a slow and dark, angry song. That would probably sound like a nice psychopathic soundtrack. What amazes me is how rare we find the slow and happy songs. While those are the ones that we can absolutely relax to and fall asleep with. (in a good way, of course.) We have heard enough of the fast-paced hard sad songs, more than enough -sorry emo’s, it’s crap, just admit it- to be honest.

Personally, I have trouble sleeping early. I’m not really a morning-person, or a evening- or even afternoon-person, and that would be an understatement. My mind spins 20% faster at night and yes, I just pulled that percentage out of my ass, whatcha gonna do about it? But here’s the thing: Society sleeps at night. I wanna keep up at work and socially, so I have to find ways to put myself to sleep.

Doing this with homework that is boring as fuck will result in me sleeping, but extremely grumpy like 90-year old fucktards would normally be. Then there is music. Slow music, because I can’t sleep with a heartrate of 175BPM and I cannot swag myself asleep. Also happy, because shit, I don’t wanna sleep depressed as fuck or scared crapless. And yeah, ambient music doesn’t always truly cut it, now does it?

Thus begins my dreadful search for slow, feelgood tunes. Luckily there is such a wonderful thing as Majestic Casual on YouTube. They put out a nice track every other day (if not multiple tracks every single day) that people send in themselves or that they found scouting online. Their latest catch is a beatiful tune by Helios, called ‘Bold Advances’. Now, need I say more? Nope.
